  Position Title: Well Engineer

  Description:

We have two opportunities for Well Engineers in North America. The successful candidate will be responsible for the well planning, design, execution support, cost estimation, and learning capture for the drilling of a thermal pilot project.

Specific Accountabilities

HSSE:

  • Hold HSSE as a core value
  • Ensure compliance with our HSSE-MS and all Procedures and Guidelines
  • Project Definition
  • Prepare drilling cost estimates
  • Work closely with the multidiscipline project team to develop a full understanding of their needs and to ensure the project objectives are being met
  • Support the project team by participating in the development of planning documentation

SCM / Contracting:

  • Prepare of contract strategies.
  • Assist in the specification and selection of fit-for-purpose drilling equipment and services
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and evaluate bids
    Prepare requisitions for well materials and services

Well Design

  • Ensure regulatory compliance of the drilling programs and operations
  • Conduct offset well reviews and benchmark competitor drilling performance
  • Prepare comprehensive drilling programs based on approved well proposals
  • Work closely with Drilling Service Contractors to design and execute effective drilling programs
  • Work closely with Completion Engineering to develop fit-for-purpose designs
  • Seek opportunities for cost-savings through the application of appropriate technologies and operational practices

Operational Support

  • Work closely with the Operations Team during the planning, execution, and post operational review phases of the project
  • Participate in all Drilling-the-Limit actives such as DWOP/ pre-spud meetings
  • Monitor daily drilling operations and provide technical assistance where required (while operational)
    Manage and be responsible for the technical integrity of during the execution phase of the project
  • Take ownership of the drilling data quality and ensure its capture during the operational phase of the project

Performance Improvement

  • Lead the preparation of the project After Action Review to fully capture learnings and best practices
  Requirements:

Bachelors degree (or higher) in Petroleum Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
5 to 8 years in well design/operations. Round 2 is a requirement
Registration as a P.Eng. with APEGGA is a requirement
Familiarity with the Well Delivery Process (WDP) is a plus
Familiarity with thermal well design is an asset
Well-developed communication skills, an interest in the planning and application of new technology
The ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team and be a motivated self-starter
