Description: |
As a Senior Reservoir Engineer, you’ll be accountable for:
- Developing mastery in recovery processes associated with HVO
and XHVO recovery
- Numerical modeling of recovery processes in reservoirs with
no injectivity, below and above the fracture pressure gradient
- Contributing in the evaluation of results from field trials,
joint industry ventures and universities which may provide valuable
inputs into designing and modeling future field development optimisation,
with cooperation from surveillance and stimulation teams
- Understanding the economics of XHVO production and the impact
of technology in reducing the unit technical cost
Participating in industry forums and meetings where XHVO topics
are presented
- Executing portions of or entire R&D projects, always with
clear deliverables and ensuring that these are deployed in the
field
- Active participation in setting the EOR strategy
- The onboarding and coaching of junior staff.
Your general accountabilities will include:
- Preventing all injuries and HSE incidents, and following house
and golden EP rules
- The technical integrity and delivery of the programme
- Executing projects within budget and resource constraints
- Effective collaboration with other stakeholders and R&D
teams including regional clients.
You will also be expected help define the portfolio of research
programmes. This includes initiating new R&D projects to keep
the portfolio evergreen, and deciding if projects meet the criteria
to progress in the R&D funnel.

Requirements: |
Preferably with a Phd in petroleum engineering or
a related science or engineering discipline, you’ll have significant
experience of reservoir engineering, particularly in areas such
as simulation, field development optimisation and research.
In-depth knowledge of reservoir modeling and simulation techniques
is essential, and you should be committed to driving forward integration
with other disciplines. We’ll look for a keen interest in
the latest reservoir engineering technology, and experience of Field
Development Planning (FDP), and Value Assurance Review (VAR) processes.
Experience of production stimulation and operational environments
would be valuable, and you should be ready to advance your knowledge
of thermal/steam/heat processes, fracturing and other aspects of
reservoir engineering.
We’ll also look for the following:
- Excellent business-focused team working skills
- Experience of managing experimental work and laboratories with
a strong emphasis on HSE
- The ability to lead diverse work groups and balance challenging
long and short-term targets
The ability to lead across multiple sites (Houston, Rijswijk,
etc.) and multiple organisations
- First-class people management skills
- Excellent writing, speaking and networking skills
- Good project management skills
- The ability to lead complex change management efforts
- Stakeholder management and relationship building skills, as
you’ll be working with senior leaders in EP, third parties,
government and national oil companies.
