  Position Title: Development Geologist

  Description:

The successful candidate will be working with a team of expatriates and local employees. The applicant may be assigned to either a development/exploitation team or an exploration team and thus be responsible for detailed field and/or regional geologic mapping, teamed with a geophysicist.

The candidate will be required to work at a rapid pace to identify drilling opportunities to fit an aggressive program.

Candidate should also be able to provide mentoring to national staff and overseeing their progress.

  Requirements: Candidate will have 5 + years experience ideally with a major integrated oil company or large independent. Candidate will be fluent in English and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Past experience working in a multi-cultural environment is beneficial. Candidate must have degree in Geology or Geophysics.

Candidate should have experience in the following technical skill categories:

  • Geologic interpretation with a focus on:
    • Clastic sedimentology
    • Sedimentary facies & depositional environment analysis
    • Sequence stratigraphic interpretation using well log, core, biostratigraphic and seismic data
    • Structural styles
    • Fault seal analysis
    • Log analysis
    • Some basic knowledge of petroleum geochemistry and basin modeling.
  • Generation of prospects in a team environment for drilling and present to governmental organizations for approval.
  • Preparing, monitoring and evaluating drilling programs.
  • Coordination with vendors regarding logging programs, rock analysis (core & cuttings), geochemistry, and biostratigraphy.
  • Familiarity with probabilistic assessment techniques for hydrocarbon prospects.
  • Assessment and improvement of existing field production techniques (i.e. waterflood, etc.)

· Generating field development/appraisal plans for discoveries and justify plans with governmental organizations.

  • Coordination and participation in regional geologic studies that aid the region’s geologic understanding of current plays as well as development of new play concepts.
  • Proficiency in and/or a willingness to learn the following PC applications:
    • Mapping (Petrel and/or Z-Map)
    • Geologic/Reservoir Model Generation (Petrel)
    • Basin Modeling (Trinity/Genesis)
    • MS Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
